Facilities Manager
Job Summary :
The Facilities Manager will oversee and implement plans and policies that promote quality and excellence throughout assigned facilities. This is a food facility environment. The Facilities Manager is responsible for the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all asset support equipment for manufacturing and facilities used by the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Oversees and coordinates the workflow of assigned staff / departments to ensure projects are completed in a timely and quality manner
- Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations for assigned team members
- May assist Director of Operations with employment matters including discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
- Researches and estimates costs of facilities projects including costs for labor, equipment, and materials
- Oversees large or complex construction and design projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, architectural standards, and contractual requirements
- Performs or facilitates inspections of all parts of the organization's grounds and facilities; approves renovations, maintenance, and installations when necessary
- Maintains a record keeping system documenting facility use, maintenance schedules, and any other information required by internal policy or by local, state, and federal agencies
- Maintains an ongoing dialogue and working relationship with staff from other departments to ensure facilities needs and problems are quickly communicated, identified, and resolved
- Maintains design and construction records / documentation
- Maintains and issues keys or other access to various buildings and mechanical rooms
- Collaborates with other staff and stakeholders to review and update the organization's physical master plan
- Assists with preparation of the yearly facilities management budget and special budgets for future building and remodeling projects
- Learn, practice, and adhere to all safety, quality, and department-specific policies as well as GMP / SOPs and prepare and maintain records as required
- Develop and implement project charters, plans, timelines, resource requirements, cost, and other associated project details
- Coordinate with plant operations, engineering consultants, contractors, and corporate managers from development through project close
- Lead weekly meetings with plant operations, engineering consultants, and contractors for major capital initiatives
- Provide weekly updates for major capital initiatives and plant expansions
- Responsible for developing project cost estimates and managing project budgets
- Document all work and prepare project reports to ensure complete communication of project status, progress, timeline, and accountability
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Skills :
Bachelor's degree in facility management, business, information management, or engineering preferredPMP certification preferredEight to ten years of related facilities experience, food industry experience preferred
Thorough understanding of facilities planning principles, best practices, and proceduresThorough understanding of local, state, and federal building codes, ordinances, and regulationsBasic understanding of building design, construction, and maintenance as needed to maintain or ensure maintenance of equipment, buildings, and other parts of the organization's facilities.Strong communication skillsBasic understanding of budget creation and executionAbility to prioritize and delegate multiple tasks and projects to ensure each is completed correctly and in a timely mannerStrong knowledge and understanding of complex Building Automation Systems in industrial-scale applicationsAbility to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematical diagrams and familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation diagramsDemonstrated experience working with complex mechanical and electrical systems in the industrial spaceExperience with mid to large-scale wastewater treatment operations preferredThorough knowledge and experience with industrial boilers, waste treatment, chilled water systems, compressed air, and industrial HVAC systems and utilitiesThorough understanding of spill procedures and protocolsPhysical Demands
Vision, hearing and speaking to meet performance standardThis role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machinesAbility to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, manual dexterity and large motor skills to work with : computers, physical files, typical office equipment and be on the production floorThe ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionallyWork Environment
Must be able to work in an environment that may contain non-toxic fumes, dust, odors, moderate level noise, and temperature & ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and / or protective clean room apparel required e.g. : safety glasses, gloves, hair net, beard net, uniform, or lab coat, while in the production or warehouse areas.
