Job Summary

Responsible for the research, design, and testing of new connector products and components. Supports the development of prototypes and refinement of existing designs to meet performance, cost, and manufacturing requirements. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation and resolve design challenges.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct research, design, and test prototypes.
  • Investigate emerging technologies, materials, and methods.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new concepts.
  • Develop and refine product concepts from idea through testing.
  • Analyze performance data and adjust designs accordingly.
  • Identify issues in design or performance and develop solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop products / solutions.
  • Use Solidwork 2D / 3D CAD software and MS Office.
  • Uphold Positronic's standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and / or the safety coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree Science, Engineering, or related field AND
  • 2-5 years of experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of both
  • Physical :

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires use of technical equipment, measuring devices, and computer systems.
  • Requires finger dexterity, near vision, and ability to interpret visual data.
  • Working Conditions

    Work is performed primarily in a production and office environment with exposure to machinery, moderate noise, and standard shop materials. Travel is required on occasion.

    Knowledge

  • Knowledge of design and development of precision connectors or components.
  • Familiar with testing protocols, compliance standards, and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to apply engineering theory to solve complex, non-routine problems.
  • Introductory knowledge of quality principles and design documentation.
  • Skills

  • Advanced problem solving and product development skills.
  • Proficient in CAD, technical analysis, and product validation tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication .
  • Time management and task tracking.
  • Abilities

  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles to structured problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Use spreadsheets, statistical tools, or modeling software to analyze present data.
