We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality dental care to our young patients. You will assist the dentist in various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure a welcoming environment for children and their families. Your expertise in pediatric dentistry and familiarity with dental practices will be essential in delivering exceptional care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
  • Take and develop X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Educate patients and their families on proper dental hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and assist with administrative tasks as needed, including medical documentation and coding.
  • Utilize dental terminology effectively when communicating with patients and team members.
  • Stay current with developments in pediatric dentistry, including techniques such as 3D scanning and medical imaging.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a dental clinic setting, particularly in pediatric dentistry, is preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is essential.
  • Familiarity with general dentistry procedures including prosthodontics and endodontics is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children and their guardians.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
