About The Position

Job Description : Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Educator (CVOR Focus)

Location :   Appleton, WI

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 8-hour days, Monday–Friday, 40 hours / week

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a strong focus on Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) cases to serve as an Educator. This role involves scrubbing in complex open heart surgeries, providing hands-on education and mentorship to surgical tech staff, developing protocols, and collaborating closely with surgeons and leadership to enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Scrub in and assist with a variety of open heart procedures (valve repairs / replacements, bypass surgeries, complex multi-valve cases).
  • Educate and mentor surgical tech staff during cases, offering real-time coaching and feedback.
  • Provide 1 : 1 training and development, focusing on skill building and procedural competency.
  • Develop and update preference cards and clinical protocols to optimize workflow and outcomes.
  • Assist with case setup prior to surgeries and ensure all necessary equipment is available.
  • Actively participate in weekly multidisciplinary meetings with surgeons and management.
  • Monitor and identify opportunities for quality improvement and team development.
  • Provide coverage as needed on weekends and holidays.

Requirements :

  • Certification : NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and current AHA BLS certification.
  • Experience : Minimum 10+ years of CVOR / CST experience, with demonstrated leadership and educator skills.
  • Travel : Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment or possess solid CVOR leadership / preceptorship experience.
  • Charting : Experience with EPIC preferred.
  • Must be able to work onsite full-time (no float assignments).
  • Strong leadership ability with adaptability and excellent communication skills.
