Director Of Economic Development
The Director Of Economic Development leads programs and partnerships that drive economic growth, support local businesses, and promote innovation. This role works across departments and with community and regional partners to align economic initiatives with the City's broader goals in planning, infrastructure, and equity.
Essential job functions include developing, implementing, and monitoring the City's comprehensive economic development strategy, leading citywide initiatives, collaborating with departments on policies, managing programs that support business attraction, retention, and expansion, and fostering partnerships with local universities, trade schools, and workforce agencies.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in Economic Development, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, redevelopment, or urban planning is required, along with minimum of five years of supervisory or management experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is also required.
Skills include a strong understanding of economic development tools, incentives, and financing mechanisms, experience managing grants, federal programs, and public-private partnerships, proven success in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and project management, excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, strong analytical and negotiation abilities, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and community engagement.
