Join to apply for the Special Investigations Unit Assistant role at Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies - Workers Compensation Division . The unit seeks an Administrative, clerical, and research support professional to assist the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
Responsibilities
- Enter, extract, and maintain data in databases and software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office / 365).
- Work with SIU team members to ensure timely reporting of suspected fraud to law enforcement. Maintain strict confidentiality of investigations.
- Prepare accurate and timely anti-fraud compliance reports for state agencies. Conduct research using publicly available and subscription-based databases.
- Assist in preparing anti-fraud training materials for Company employees.
- Assist in obtaining deposition transcripts and other evidence. File and serve paperwork with the Department of Insurance and the District Attorney's office.
- Follow up on the status of investigations. Draft correspondence for internal and external partners. Review vendor communications. Prepare bulk mailings.
- Use computer software to duplicate videos and evidence. Create charts, spreadsheets, and visual aids for presentations to management, counsel, and law enforcement. Maintain a comprehensive, well-organized electronic system for all SIU materials, including compliance with proof-of-custody requirements and state regulations.
Required Qualifications
Education : Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.Experience : At least one year of relatable experience; prior research using public or subscription databases is preferred.Computer Skills : Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and able to learn proprietary and vendor software.Language Ability : Ability to read and understand various documents (claim notes, simple legal documents, investigative reports, etc.), interpret state regulations, and produce concise business correspondence. Effective communication with internal and external parties.Math and Reasoning : Ability to perform calculations (percentages, sums, differences) and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standard situations.Desired Competencies
