Staff Engineer - Geotechnical (Solar Focused) / Ann Arbor, MI

G2 Consulting Group is seeking a full-time staff engineer to join our geotechnical solar team in Ann Arbor. The role involves field testing, laboratory testing, and engineering report preparation for industrial-scale solar energy projects. Work is primarily outdoors at various sites nationwide, requiring extensive travel, typically 1-2 weeks per project.

Key responsibilities include soil boring logging, sample collection, pile load testing, electrical resistivity testing, and laboratory analysis such as CBR, soil thermal resistivity, unconfined compressive strength, and soil classification. The role also involves analyzing test data, performing engineering calculations, and developing foundation and roadway design recommendations.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and excellent driving record
• Preferred : Engineer in Training (EIT)
• Preferred : 3 months to 4 years of construction engineering experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills
• Self-motivated with good prioritization and time management
• Ability to lift up to 99 lbs and operate hand tools and hydraulic equipment
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including long overnight travel and working in challenging terrains
