Job Overview :

Skilled Orthopedic Surgery Physician to provide inpatient and on-call coverage at both Waterloo and Cedar Falls Medical Centers. This locum tenens opportunity is available for specific dates in 2025 to cover vacation and time-off gaps.

  • February 27 March 2, 2025
  • May 1 May 4, 2025
  • July 31 August 3, 2025
  • October 30 November 2, 2025
  • Shift Type : Varied (Inpatient and On-Call Coverage)
  • Schedule : No clinic responsibilities, inpatient and on-call coverage only
  • Patient Demographics : All ages
  • Average Daily Census : 10-20 patients (combined for both locations)
  • EMR Systems :
  • Current : Epic for clinic, Cerner for inpatient (switching to Epic Enterprise on May 31, 2025)

Rate : $2,500 daily rate

  • $360 / hr call back rate

    • Responsibilities :

  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultations for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Perform surgeries and procedures for conditions such as :
  • Trauma, infections, tumors, and deformities
  • Injuries and degenerative diseases of the spine, hands, feet, knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow
  • Metabolic and muscular disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system
  • Provide care to patients in the intensive care unit, as necessary, in accordance with unit policies.
  • Manage emergent conditions and provide consultative call services.

  • Education & Certification :
  • Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Fellowship-trained in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Experience :
  • Must have prior experience in orthopedic surgery
  • Licensure :
  • Active Iowa Medical License
  • Availability :
  • Must be available for all listed coverage dates
