About The Position

Must-Have : Surgical experience in a tertiary care center, Pre-Op / PACU skills including ICU skillset in PACU

Description :

Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Level II Pediatric Trauma designation.

On the journey to Magnet Status designation.

Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center.

Educational facility with 417 beds.

Facilities include 12 operating rooms operating Monday to Friday from 0700 to 1500, tapering down throughout the day.

20 Pre-Op bays and 14 PACU bays available.

Patient types include Surgical (Urology, Neuro, Ortho, Robotic, General, Podiatry, ENT).

Pre- and Post-Recovery (Phase I and Phase II) with some ICU level care needed.

Patient ratios in OR are 1 : 1.

Pre-Op ratio is 1 : 2.

PACU Phase I ratio is 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, based on acuity.

PACU Phase II ratio is 1 : 2-3.

Skills required include Ortho-Trauma (ORIF, Ex fix, amputations), Neuro (Craniotomy, spinal), General, and Robotics (Da Vinci XI).

Support on the unit includes Surgery RNs, First Assist, Surgical Tech, Nurse Clinicians, Service Line Leads, and Anesthesia.

Charting system used is EPIC.

Floating may occur as needed in Pre-Op / PACU / Floor as helping hands.

Weekend rotation is required.

Call may involve one overnight per week from 7 PM to 7 AM and every third weekend from Friday 3 PM to Monday 7 AM, subject to departmental needs.

Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 4 major holidays.

Approval for time off must be obtained from management.
