Workface Planner (Rig & Facilities)
Industrial Systems Consulting (ISC) — Bakersfield, CA | Field-Based | Full-Time (W-2)
Reports to : AWP Program Lead / Construction Manager Travel : Daily site travel within Kern County; occasional travel to other fields
Role Summary
The Workface Planner converts Construction Work Packages (CWPs) into Field Work Packages (FWPs) that are 100% executable in the field. This role owns constraint removal, material readiness, and day-to-day coordination so pad build, tie-ins, and rig interfaces happen safely, on time, and with minimal rework. You're the last planner at the workface ensuring crews show up with the right scope, right materials, right permits, right drawings, and right conditions—so work starts once and finishes once.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan the work : break down CWPs into FWPs by discipline (civil, mechanical, electrical / I&C) with steps, drawings, BOMs, tools / equipment, permits, QA hold points, and JHAs.
- Clear constraints : maintain the constraint log (permits, materials, access, approvals, equipment, utilities); assign owners and dates; escalate early.
- Field verify : walk the job, validate quantities and site conditions, mark up drawings / isometrics / P&IDs, and update redlines.
- Kitting & prefab : coordinate materials kitting and standard hookup prefab "kits"; manage reorder points with warehouse / vendors.
- Schedule integration : align FWPs to the 2–3 week look-ahead; feed actuals / progress back to the Scheduler and update forecasts.
- Run the cadence : lead / participate in daily field huddles and weekly look-ahead / KPI meetings; keep visual boards current.
- Quality & turnover : execute ITPs, collect QA records, and assemble turnover / PSSR artifacts; drive first-pass yield at PSSR.
- Safety leadership : champion JHAs, permits to work, lift plans, and stop-work; verify controls are in place before release.
- Interfaces : coordinate with drilling, facilities, contractors, warehouse / procurement, permitting, QA / QC, HSE, and operations.
- Continuous improvement : capture variance causes, propose fixes, and close PDCA actions to reduce lead time and rework.
