Job Summary :

Primarily, oversee the operations of the Payroll department and, secondarily, perform Junior Accountant and Security Administration duties for the department

Duties & Responsibilities :

Payroll Department

  • Process Payroll and related activities for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Activities include :

Processing MDCPS payroll file to pay EdFed members who are employees of MDCPS

  • Setup and payroll processing of the MDCPS Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP)
  • Communicating to MDCPS those EdFed members / MDCPS employees that have elected direct deposit of their MDCPS payroll with EdFed (start, stop, change).
  • Assist members and staff with MDCPS & ACH payroll concerns.
  • Perform maintenance of loans paid from MDCPS Payroll and ACH distribution (e.g., change payment amount)
  • Perform maintenance of share distributions from MDCPS Payroll and ACH distribution (e.g., checking, savings, special shares, cross accounts)
  • Payroll department training of new hires and staff.

    • Junior Accountant

  • Prepare various daily and monthly operational and financial reports
  • Manage accounting for leases / LeaseCrunch
  • Manage the Unclaimed Property / Escheatment process (including stale dated checks)
  • Process Corporate Cards and record to proper GL

    • Security Administration – Correspondent Banks – Federal Reserve Bank, Truist, Corporate One, and FHLB Atlanta

  • Token issuance & monitoring.
  • Manage user access and permissions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    • Skills

  • Strong organization and time management, problem solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Symitar preferred
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
