Job Summary
The Installation Technician position is responsible for safely installing, programming, and maintaining card-access, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems equipment & wiring. This position will install individual components and various wiring throughout sites, following necessary electrical codes & procedures, and according to instructions provided. This position will also test various systems & components, repairing as necessary according to system specifications.
Responsibilities :
- Install and low voltage systems such as access control, video, intrusion alarm, fire alarm and intercoms.
- Install cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; position and terminate cables, wires, and strapping.
Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors. Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant New Mexico electrical codes
Demonstrate systems for customers, and explain details such as the causes and consequences of false alarmsPerform installation or service in accordance with work orders, building plans, and manufacture installation manuals. Determine material requirements and installation proceduresTest backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features to ensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctionsExamine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or faulty equipment.Maintain & protect company vehicle, tools, hardware, and equipment to be installed on projectsPerforms other tasks as required.Competencies :
Excellent technical skills (installation, repair, and troubleshooting)Excellent customer service skills including phone correspondence, and in-person.Strong attention to safety and detailStrong knowledge of current electrical / system codes & regulationsRequirements :
Knowledge, Skill & Other Requirements :
Highschool diploma, or GED / equivalent; required.Current NM Journeymen ES3J or better requiredMust pass background check and have clean driving recordMust be legally authorized to work in the United States.
