Associate Equine Veterinarian

We are seeking an immediate, full time, experienced equine associate veterinarian to join our predominately equine hospital. A special interest in sports medicine and lameness is our primary desire but all applicants would be considered. Homestead Veterinary Hospital (HVH) is 70% equine, 25% small animal, and 5% small ruminants. We are an 7 ½ doctor practice that serves a very diverse caseload. We service all disciplines of equine sports from backyard trail riding to high level sport horses. The candidate must be a great team player with exceptional communication skills necessary to provide the excellent veterinary care our clients deserve. We are primarily an ambulatory practice, but also have a 10,000 square foot state of the art hospital that was built ten years ago. We offer four stalls, two mare / foal stalls, isolation, and stocks to work on cases brought into the hospital. RVT’s present in hospital to provide 24 hour care when necessary.

HVH provides medical and surgical veterinary services that involve, but are not limited to : Pre-purchase exams, Lameness evaluations, Regenerative Medicine, Ophthalmology, Digital Radiography, Digital Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Dentistry, CO2 Laser, Therapeutic Laser, Shockwave Therapy, Field Surgery, Reproduction, In-House Laboratory, Acupuncture, and Emergency Care 24 / 7 / 365.

On-call duties are shared. Veterinarian receives 100% of emergency fees.  Competitive base salary plus commission based on performance. The schedule is designed for a 4 to 4 ½ day work week. HVH provides a stocked vehicle, medical, malpractice, liability, disability and life insurance. We also provide paid professional registrations (AAEP, AVMA, MVMA, BNDD, DEA), paid vacation, paid CE, and a SIMPLE retirement program. We have a great staff and a healthy practice culture in which to learn and develop new skills.

HVH is located just west of the St. Louis suburbs in Villa Ridge, MO. Ten minutes west of the hospital is historic Washington, MO that sits on the banks of the Missouri River. It is a small, quiet town with great dining and shopping, as well as access to the Missouri wineries on HWY 94. Outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and horse trails abound. Downtown St. Louis is approximately one hour to the east of Villa Ridge and offers many sporting, musical, and dining activities.
