Benefits Coordinator
General Summary : Assist Benefits Manager with associate benefit plan compliance, including ERISA, and other legal requirements. Provide administrative support with all benefit planning efforts and strategies including : report generation, coordination between consultants and insurance companies, and strategy implementation. Perform a variety of tasks including special projects.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
Benefits and Wellness :
Responsible for the coordination and implementation of various benefit and wellness initiatives including Annual Enrollment.
Plan and organize wellness events and activities for the Company.
Partner with Family Dollar Communications department to ensure associate benefit and well-being programs are communicated on a regular cadence to promote associate engagement.
Ensure all new benefit contracts as well as renewals and amendments are entered into the contracting system and finalized.
Serve as subject matter expert on Company's paid time off programs, ensuring compliance with state and local requirements.
Compliance :
Responsible for overseeing the creation and publishing of Summary of Benefits and Coverage, Summary Plan Descriptions, Required Notices and other notices required by law.
Partner with Benefits Consultant each year to prepare the annual compliance filings (including but not limited to) PCORI, Health & Welfare and Severance 5500 filings.
Ensures annual HIPAA training is performed for new and existing associates.
Education :
Manage the Education Assistance Program in partnership with plan administrator. Review on an annual basis to ensure benefit is competitive.
Partner with National Merit Scholarship Corporation to offer Family Dollar's Scholarship Program.
Position Requirements :
Office / remote work environment, 40+ work hours per week, 4 days in office, 1 day remote (optional)
Minimum Requirements :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field
Experience : 2-3 years related employee benefits experience in a HR department of a medium to large size organization. Basic knowledge of requirements under ERISA, HIPAA, ACA and other related federal law. Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to work with all levels of management. Must be self-directed, resourceful, have excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must.
Job Related Skills : Experience overseeing paid time off programs in a multi-state environment preferred.
Computer Skills : Workday experience preferred. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.
