Primary Purpose
Assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional programs and campus operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.
Education / Certification
- Master's degree.
- Texas assistant principal or other appropriate Texas certificate.
- Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser.
Special Knowledge / Skills
Thorough understanding of school operations.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to coordinate campus support operations.Experience / Other Requirements
Three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher.Personal cell phone required for district-related business, including after hours or when away from the office on district business.Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Management
Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.Encourage and support innovative instructional programs, assisting teachers in piloting efforts when appropriate.Promote the use of technology in teaching and learning.School / Organizational Climate
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.Communicate effectively with students and staff.School / Organizational Improvement
Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.Assist in developing, maintaining, and using information systems to track campus performance and academic indicators.Personnel Management
Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as second appraiser for designated teacher appraisal system.Assist in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.Administration and Fiscal / Facilities Management
Supervise operations in the principal's absence.Help plan daily school activities, including class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance.Work with department heads to develop annual budget requests.Requisition supplies, check inventory, and verify receipts.Assist with safety inspections and drills.Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and support services.Comply with laws, rules, and policies.Student Management
Ensure supervision during non-instructional periods.Develop a student discipline system promoting positive behavior.Ensure school rules are observed and discipline is fair.Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers.Participate in professional development.School / Community Relations
