About the Job

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is hiring for a number of different Dental Assistant positions throughout our clinics. These positions are vital to providing exceptional care to our patients and play a key role in supporting the education of our students. This is a general posting for Dental Assistants in the School of Dentistry. Specialties may include but are not limited to : Periodontology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Comprehensive Care, Pediatrics, Orthodontics, Implant, and more.

Days / hours :

40 hours / week, Monday - Friday (hours may vary depending on specialty)

Healthcare position. Bargaining unit consideration begins on 3 / 14 / 2025 and ends on 3 / 21 / 2025. This posting will be used to hire up to 10 Dental Assistants.

Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to :

• Provide chairside assistance to undergraduate students, residents, and faculty while supporting clinical services to School of Dentistry patients
• Assist with patient consultation appointments, including setup and cleanup
• Take digital radiographs as prescribed by the dentist
• Chart in Electronic Health Record
• Sterilize instruments
• Daily, weekly and monthly maintenance, instrument setup, and cleaning of operatories and assigned clinical areas
• Order and maintain adequate stock of dental supplies needed in the clinical and lab areas
• Demonstrates knowledge of Emergency procedures and protocols including use of Emergency equipment
• Adherence to infection control protocols of the School of Dentistry
• Assist with the instruction to dental assistant externs and others as needed.
• Sitting and standing for long periods of time. Reaching, bending, lifting and similar movements
• Other duties as assigned

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range : $27.02-$34.33; depending on education / qualifications / experience

Time Appointment : 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type : Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
