THE POSITION : THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you interested in a fulfilling career protecting the environment and supporting wastewater and water resource programs for the local community? The Agency is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical problem solver to serve as its next Senior Environmental Resources Planner within the Planning and Resources Department, Environmental Services Unit. IEUA is currently working on an exciting portfolio of diverse water resources that includes imported water, surface water, groundwater, recycled water, and wastewater supplies, to increase the reliability and demand within the Agency's service area. As a Senior Environmental Resources Planner, you will you will make a positive contribution to the Agency by working on complex water and wastewater projects and be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the various elements of those projects. Incumbents will perform a wide range of professional tasks including but not limited to the following : reviewing and processing pretreatment and source control permitting and enforcement, developing long term wastewater planning documents, preparing feasibility studies, identifying future facilities / infrastructure projects, conducting / supporting utility rate and capacity fee studies, collecting water / wastewater fees, coordinating work with other Agency departments, external consultants, contractors, and entities, making detailed reports, and providing recommendations as part of a collaborative team.

The Planning and Resources Department is responsible for planning and implementing projects and programs to cost-effectively meet future regional water, wastewater and energy management needs through enhanced partnerships with various regional stakeholders. The Compliance and Sustainability Unit promotes and monitors Agency programs, as well as maintaining the integrity of the core Agency processes by maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and requirements while minimizing Agency liability.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in environmental science, a laboratory science or a related field, and four years of professional-level experience in wastewater treatment, environmental planning, environmental compliance or environmental testing; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
LICENSES; CERTIFICATES; SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program.
Some assignments may require a Permitting Professional certificate issued by South Coast Air Quality Management District.
Skills and Abilities :
Apply knowledge of environmental planning principles, federal / state / local water regulations, and IEUA's wastewater / pretreatment processes to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Utilize advanced computer applications, statistical analysis techniques, and QA / QC practices to develop accurate reports, monitor performance, and support data-driven decision-making.
Communicate effectively through clear written reports, correspondence, and training programs, while fostering collaboration and strong working relationships across teams.
Exercise sound judgment, initiative, and organizational skills to plan, coordinate, and direct diverse environmental planning tasks and hazardous waste management practices within established guidelines.

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency is a regional wastewater treatment agency and wholesale distributor of imported water to approximately 950,000 people across 242-square miles in western San Bernardino County.
