Job Description

The Senior Director of Clinical Services is a key leadership role responsible for providing expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff within skilled nursing facilities. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to regulatory standards, and the implementation of best practices in clinical operations.

The Senior Director of Clinical Services will treat each resident with kindness, dignity and respect. They will knock before entering each resident's room. They will refer to each resident by their name. They will be courteous to families, visitors and all staff. They will maintain a positive and calm disposition. They will communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively when speaking to residents, family members, visitors, staff and any governmental agency personnel. They will make sound independent decisions. They will set an example of working collaboratively between multidisciplinary teams. They will demonstrate patience, initiative and willingness to assist residents that may be difficult. They will be committed to always doing the right thing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Clinical Expertise and Support :

  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource for nursing staff, providing guidance on complex patient care issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Support the nursing team in delivering evidence-based care.

Quality Improvement :

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and care quality.
  • Analyze clinical data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement projects.
  • Education and Training :

  • Develop and deliver educational programs and training sessions for clinical staff.
  • Mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Stay current with the latest clinical practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance :

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication :

  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall facility operations and patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to address concerns and provide education.
  • Represent the facility in professional and community organizations.
