Human Resources Representative

Reports to : Human Resources Director

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Hours : 7 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m. (One (1) Hour Lunch)

Job Location : 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH 43207- This position is primarily in person, with hybrid work capabilities.

General Overview : Under direct supervision, the Human Resources Representative supports various administrative tasks within the Department. This individual should consistently demonstrate Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.

The Human Resources Representative is a versatile position that may support a wide range of HR functions across the Company. The goal of this particular role is to focus on recruitment efforts including attending recruitment events on behalf of the Company, assisting with reviewing resumes and applications, coordinating interviews, and supporting overall talent acquisition initiatives.

Responsibilities :

  • Become and remain a DOT-certified drug test collector
  • Collaborates with HR Leadership to prepare and implement performance reviews
  • Become familiar with the various unions and their corresponding union agreements
  • Complete proper FMLA and Short-Term Disability paperwork
  • Maintains accurate and compliant records of active job openings and applications
  • Manages internal and external job postings
  • Reviews applications for union and non-union positions
  • Conducts preliminary phone screenings
  • Schedules interviews
  • May attend interviews on behalf of the HR Department
  • Prepares and distributes offer letters to candidates
  • Partners with other HR Representatives to schedule, coordinate, and attend career fairs to recruit both union and non-union positions
  • Supports the Companys recruitment strategy by maintaining and developing relationships with other Departments and local organizations
  • Performs administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, which may include layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence
  • Assists in the creation of recruitment materials, including presentations, brochures, flyers, and swag orders
  • Conducts job analyses and maintains Company job descriptions
  • Know and adhere to all company policies and procedures and be able to communicate them effectively
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of basic interview legalities, skilled at handling sensitive information, ability to stand for extending periods of time, ability to walk extended distances, ability to remain physically active for extended periods of time, ability to lift and carry items weighing 30 pounds or more, ability to collect, label, and manage biological samples according to established procedures (drug testing), ability to communicate orally and in writing, ability to speak publicly, ability to read and comprehend information from written materials, ability to work independently and in a team environment, ability to travel to and from the primary workplace daily, as well as to the occasional off-site locations such as career fairs, job sites, or related events.

Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, administrative support, or a related field, or an associates or bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related discipline
  • George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a BWC Drug-Free Workplace. All candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, which includes testing for marijuana
