American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg-Oncology night shift position requiring a WV or compact license, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Assignment is in a 36-bed acute care Med / Surg-Oncology unit within a trauma level 2 settingCare for a mix of general MedSurg patients, post-op (lap cholecystectomy, lap appendectomy), and oncology patients with complicationsNurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1 : 5-612-hour night shifts with a requirement to work every other weekendHoliday shifts are scheduled as part of the staff rotationUses Epic EMR for documentationHeparin drips are titrated on the unit; no cardiac drips requiredPhillips telemetry monitors used, RN must read and interpret stripsCollaborative team with 3 CNAs per shift and 24 / 7 charge nurse coverageTravelers may be required to float to other MedSurg / Tele unitsRoyal blue scrubs requiredRole involves caring for patients with chest tubes and on neutropenic precautionsTravelers participate in the holiday rotation and may float as needed based on staffingCharge nurse present 24 / 7 with nights occasionally taking patientsCollaboration with respiratory therapists for CPAP / BiPAP managementFirst time travelers are accepted for this unitNo false nails permittedHoliday shifts are assigned within the perm staff rotationTravelers are limited to a total of one year of employment within WVU, after which a 2-year break is required before returning\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years of Med / Surg or Oncology nursing experienceCurrent BLS certification from AHA requiredExperience with telemetry monitoring and interpreting strips is necessaryFamiliarity with Epic EMR strongly preferredExperience caring for post-op and oncology patients, including those with PleurX chest tubes, is highly desirableSubmitting a copy of a valid, unexpired driver’s license is required for considerationMust live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local travelers accepted)Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break to be considered\n Benefits\n
