Overview
MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING
The Manufacturing Engineer supports new programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and production controls. Responsible for the design of production tools and / or machines and for developing solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes, shop floor routing and tooling. Incorporates all the production related aspects Engineering Change orders (ECOs) and revision changes dictated by the customer. Works with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering on priorities and implementation of improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new programs; supervises their assembly and proofing
- Designs tools and / or machines of varying types (some of complex nature) for use in the manufacture of company products
- Determines and reviews all manufacturing processes for cost effectiveness and feasibility, both before and after engineering releases to manufacturing
- Coordinates all engineering releases and changes relative to routings, setting standards, data entry and follow-up
- Determines priorities with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering and implements cost-reduction projects; maintains detailed documentation as required
- Stays informed concerning new manufacturing technology and equipment, and investigates their potential applications
- Recommends incorporation of new technology for company applications where feasible and practical
- Reviews and addresses corrective actions and preventative actions
- Performs equipment and process validations
- Other duties as assigned
