Title : Telecommunications Technician

Duration : 12 Months (Possibility of extension)

Location : Eau Claire, WI (Onsite)

This position requires a significant amount of day-to-day travel. Visiting offices across the state to perform maintenance and repairs will be a requirement of this position. Some overnight travel may be required as this position is a statewide resource that may be requested to help with projects throughout the state. Travel reimbursement will be provided.

Position location is not necessarily in Eau Claire. Can be flexible to accommodate right fit for selected candidate. Preferred office locations include Green Bay, Black River Falls, Tomahawk.

This position will work closely with the Radio Program staff, consisting of Radio Specialists, Radio System Administrators, Inventory Specialists, Tower Specialists, and Frequency Coordinators. This team provides radio support for forest management, parks, wildlife, and other field operations. The Radio Program supports communication systems for fire suppression, prescribed burning, special events, administrative activities, and public safety operations.

The department maintains and supports multiple repeater systems and approximately 150 repeaters across 120 radio sites, along with about 2,000 handheld and mobile radios.
