Pay : $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Job description :

We are a private optometry practice looking to hire a full-time optician or optical technician!

Job Responsibilities :

  • Communicate effectively with patients about glasses, frames and lenses options
  • Assisting patients in selecting frames, lenses and lens options in our optical
  • Measure and fit glasses accurately and efficiently
  • Repair and / or adjust glasses / frames as needed
  • Dispensing of glasses and contact lenses to patients
  • Answering phone calls with enthusiasm and confidence
  • Ability to learn and efficiently use our computer practice management software
  • Assist in checking in / out patients
  • Checking insurance eligibility, fulling understanding patient vision plan benefits and being able to explain them clearly, and billing glasses and / or contact lens orders through vision insurance plans.
  • Pre-Testing / Special Testing Duties : Auto-Refraction, iCare Tonometer, Retinal Photography, OCT, Visual Fields (experience with these tests is not required!)

Job Requirements :

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • ~40 hours / week (Monday 9 : 00 AM - 7 : 00 PM / Tuesday - Thursday 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM / Friday : 9 : 00 AM - 3 : 00 PM) with 1 hour lunch.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in frame sales / adjustments / repairs (PREFERRED)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ophthalmic lens options and desire to learn more as technology changes
  • Learning and thorough understanding of Crystal Practice Management computer software which is used to schedule patients, place orders, etc.
  • Ability to feel comfortable and confident answering phone calls to address patient needs and scheduling appointment
  • Understanding of major vision plans and being able to pull benefits and bill for ophthalmic materials
  • Willingness to create collaborative relationships with industry reps / vendors as well as other team members
