Litigation Paralegal (Property Insurance / Insurance Defense) - 3447152

Location : Tampa, FL 33617

Salary / Payrate : $60K-$80K annually

Work Environment : Onsite

Term : Permanent / Full-time

Overview

The ideal candidate will have property insurance, insurance defense, plaintiff, and / or bad faith property litigation experience with Federal Court experience a plus. This is an in-office position; training will be provided for familiarity with Word, Gmail, Westlaw, Adobe, and, ideally, Kofax (fka Nuance) and Clio.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and summarize records, documents, correspondence, and files into a manageable format.
  • Analyze and review case documents to assist in deposition, hearing, and trial preparation; include legal research (prior use of Westlaw preferred).
  • Conduct investigations and research into facts and material issues in the cases.
  • Work closely with clients, witnesses, experts, third parties, and opposing counsel to obtain information pertinent to the case matter.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting pleadings with corresponding exhibits, correspondence, subpoenas for records, disclosures and other various types of motions while under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Coordinate attorney depositions, hearings, and related activities with office personnel (court reporters, witnesses, opposing counsel).
  • Respond to Discovery Requests, including requests for production, requests for admissions, and interrogatories; prepare discovery requests and monitor responses from opposing counsel.
  • Process pleadings, motions, and correspondence (e-service and physical) and use the Florida e-filing portal.
  • Prepare materials in support of hearings and depositions; include legal research (Westlaw preferred).
  • Complete other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong computer proficiency; verbal and written communication; time management and planning; ability to manage documents; attention to detail; self-motivation; ability to multitask and prioritize for multiple attorneys; professionalism; ability to keep confidential case and client matters; dependable.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment with potential to work remotely while staying on task; litigation experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in property insurance / insurance defense and Federal Court experience is a plus.
