First Bank is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven VP, Commercial / Ag Loan Officer to lead and expand a lending portfolio across the commercial and agriculture sectors. In this role you will be responsible for :
Loan Portfolio Management & Customer Service :
- Generate business loans within guidelines set by bank policy and growth targets.
- Interview customers and complete the loan application and the approval process.
- Responsible for all aspects of loan origination includes underwriting the loan within credit policy and personal credit approval limits.
- Approve loans within credit authority.
- Review UCC filings, mortgages, and loan documents to ensure First Bank is in first lien position.
- Complete customer on-site visits and collateral inspections.
- Submit loans and discuss exceptions with other authorized staff and Board of Directors as stated in the loan policy to assure quality loans.
- Prepare and analyze cash flows and loan reviews and restricting, includes performing annual reviews on selected accounts.
- Actively work to clear exception items within the loan portfolio.
- Actively work with delinquent loans to maintain the quality of the loan portfolio.
- Negotiate rates and terms of loans with customers and management within set guidelines.
- Using the NMLS Federal Register, responsible for registering, providing the unique identifying number assigned as required and maintaining registry at least annually.
Business Development & Sales :
Generate new loan volume for the bank; include soliciting new business relationships and deepening relationships and providing customer service to existing customers.Continue customer involvement such as visit each business customer and farmer at least annually (some are visited as monthly).Responsible for referring customers to the bank's new accounts area for deposit relationships.Stay up to date with the economic conditions in agriculture and business.Deepen existing customer relationships by cross-selling financial products as well as solicit customers from external sources.Other :
Flexibility in time availability as meeting with existing and prospective customer may occur outside of normal business hours.Responsible for ensuring high-quality customer service is provided to both internal and external customers.Active involvement in community and civic organizations, as appropriate to represent the bank in the community.As part of the overall bank's team of employees, this position may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities.Other duties as assigned.A well qualified candidate would have at least 5 years of commercial or ag lending experience, strong financial aptitude, exceptional customer service skills, and excellent communication skills. The ability to problem solve, time management skills, and confidentiality are also needed for the role.
