We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Fresno, California, within the agriculture industry. This role requires an individual with strong attention to detail and expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting practices. The position offers long-term stability and growth opportunities while supporting essential financial operations and occasional HR tasks.
Responsibilities :
- Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, and resolving discrepancies.
- Oversee accounts payable activities, such as verifying and coding bills, scheduling payments, and handling federal AP-related tasks.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
- Utilize accounting systems, including Famous, to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
- Provide occasional HR support by processing paperwork, managing benefits forms, and maintaining employee files.
- Collaborate with team members, including the AP and Grower Accountant, to streamline operations and provide management support.
- Handle daily invoice volumes ranging from 25–30 during normal periods and up to 70 during peak seasons.
- Support compliance with government contracts and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including corporate tax returns and sales tax.
- Maintain confidentiality and reliability while performing all assigned tasks.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including month-end close and bank reconciliations.
- Proficiency in journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
- Ability to handle a high volume of invoices during peak periods with accuracy.
- Familiarity with accounting software and systems; experience with Famous is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality and working independently while taking direction.
