Position Overview

The Loader Operator moves, loads and handles materials within the aggregate / redi-mix plant. Responsible for contributing to production and load materials produced in the batch plant.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently within MSHA / OSHA standards.
• Responsible for thorough pre and post shift inspections.
• Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, gravel, or other materials in a safe manner.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Assist Plant Manager in coordination of materials handling and equipment usage.
• May assist as Laborer at times during plant moves and light maintenance.
• May perform physical tasks involved with Mining and Construction practices.
• Assist with setup, striping, stacking, and loading eco blocks.
• Knowledge of the use and capabilities of heavy equipment and machinery used in maintenance and construction tasks.
• Knowledge of both traffic and safety rules.
• Knowledge of the practices and techniques applied to the safe operation of heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
• Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
• Load and maintain batch plant bins to keep the production of redi-mix moving for customers. This is a customer focused business.
• Assists in maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, cleaning, and removing jam-ups.
• Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Must be able to climb man ladder.
• Follow verbal (in person, over the radio, and over the phone) and written instructions.
• Must be able to organize and lead people.
• Other duties as assigned.
