Role

The Construction Inspector position monitors the work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for projects of routine to moderate complexity. Assists PM and CM in job responsibilities; includes time both in the office as well as out in the field.

Two (2) + years of related telecom experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, inspect, and monitor contractual fieldwork including excavations, boring, placement of hand holes, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, and restoration of work areas.
  • Schedule work and inspection phases with contractors, superintendent, and agency personnel.
  • Advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments to operations; ensure adherence to proper safety procedures.
  • Take field measurements of trenches, restoration areas, and street cuts based on drawings / as-builts to verify contractor billing; check placement and perform quality reviews of construction. Maintain electrical and communication clearances.
  • Recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide cost savings.
  • Maintain project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, and pay quantity records.
  • Evaluate and monitor progress schedules, prepare work orders, and monthly estimates.
  • Upload documents and track task progress.
  • Schedule and attend third-party inspections.
  • Manage material releases and review A&E deliverables (structural drawings, as-builts).
  • Participate in bid processes and provide input.
  • Support PMT tasks and handle administrative duties as needed.
