The Community Support Generalist at Vail Communities works in a uniquely supportive and collaborative setting alongside adults living with mental illness. Vail Communities employs a community-based approach to recovery, using ordinary daily activities to connect staff with members, members to each other, and everyone to their strengths and talents. The role involves working with members to plan and coordinate work tasks, supporting goal setting and job development through training and support on transitional employment. Community Support Generalists lead and model through encouragement, appreciation, and a focus on abilities, with an end goal of members seeing and hearing themselves as valued participants within the Clubhouse community.

The Clubhouse Program at Vail Communities is a community for adults with serious mental illness, serving as a single point of access and coordination based on the Clubhouse Model. We believe connecting to a community is not only a basic human need it's a prerequisite for mental health. People living with SMI need a holistic approach to treatment that addresses social symptoms, as well as psychosocial needs such as employment, housing, and skills development. Our treatment approach, known as social practice based on the Clubhouse Model pioneered by Fountain House New York City and implemented in Clubhouses worldwide is designed to do just that. What will you do?
The Community Support Generalist's responsibilities include planning and coordinating work tasks with small and large groups, assisting Clubhouse members in developing vocational, educational, and housing goals and objectives, and more. The Community Support Generalist engages with Clubhouse members as colleagues in meaningful work and encourages and engages with people who might not yet believe in themselves. Community Support Generalists lead and model through encouragement, appreciation, and a focus on abilities while allowing for and accommodating the needs of an individual served. The Community Support Generalist is responsible for engagement with members to prepare meals for 30+ people a day. The Community Support Generalist develops relationships with Clubhouse members with an end goal of seeing and hearing themselves as valued participants within the Clubhouse community. This role may have some individualization of focus, e.g., vocational / transitional employment, data, and social recreation, as the community and its needs develop and evolve.
