Lateral Police Officer - Eligibility List
Our officers are committed to providing and preserving an excellent quality of life and safe community for the City of Ashland.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill future lateral Police Officer vacancies that occur within one year in the Ashland Police Department.
Lateral candidates must be certified and have at least one year of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer.
Incentive pay may apply for qualified candidates, including :
- DPSST Certification : 7% for Intermediate; 12% for Advanced
- Longevity pay : 3% for 10 years of service; 6% for 15 years of service; 9% for 20 years of service
- Educational incentive : 2% for AA; 3% for BA; 5% for MA
PURPOSE OF POSITION : To protect life and property and maintain public safety.
Responsibilities include :
Respond to calls for service, assist medical units, mediate civil conflicts, and educate the community in areas of crime prevention and personal protectionArrest, warn and / or cite violatorsCoordinate with other departments, agencies and the public in the implementation of crime prevention techniquesPrepare written documentation of incidents and investigate and document criminal activityTestify in courtEssential Job Functions :
Respond to calls, including major crimes, civil complaints, thefts, assaults, family disputes, etc.Direct road traffic at accident / crime scenes as necessaryPerform CPR and first aid as neededPrepare written records and reports necessary for investigations, crime prevention, prosecution and administrationConduct investigations and interrogations, obtain evidence, interview victims and witnesses, compile information, and prepare cases for filing of chargesTestify in court as necessaryAuxiliary Job Functions :
Maintain proficiency by attending training conferences and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibilityEducation, Training And Experience :
