Job Summary

  • As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Essential Functions

  • Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
  • Assists RN with development of plan of care.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

    • Qualifications

    Education

  • Graduate of Practical Nursing Program.

    • Licenses / Certifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Candidate must be an LPN with a minimum of one year experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

    • Experience

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must have worked in a hospital setting within the preceding 12 months.
  • Must be willing to work in a temporary status for a 13-week period.
  • Be available and cooperative to work the time period as assigned and scheduled by the unit manager / director's discretion, which may include a varied shift.
  • Work alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled.
