CHMC – Emergency Department -Emergency Service Assistant – Part Time- Night Shift - 7p-7 : 30a; various as needed – Requisition 8088
Pay Range : ($21.20-$27.28)
An Emergency Service Assistant assists in providing quality patient care by enhancing support services and facilitating communication among medical personnel, in an emergency care setting, as delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse. Responsible for managing patient records, accurate and timely documentation, patient monitoring, implementing specific procedures and programs, coordinating work within and among other departments, reporting pertinent information to immediate supervisor, responding to inquiries or requests for information, and assisting immediate supervisor with tasks which support departmental operations.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of an approved Nursing Attendant program or one year of experience as a basic EMT / EMS.
BLS Certification.
Successful completion of Level I EKG within six months of the position start date.
Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security.
Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
Maintain quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Knowledge of providing individualized attention and patient care by assisting with routine activities.
Exhibit proficient communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities.
Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy in the documentation of information.
Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
Ability to document patient responses to treatment and observations of progress.
Provide assistance with reception / clerical duties.
Proficient computer skills.
Ability to perform order transcription and manage patient records.
Perform various intervention tasks assigned by the charge nurse.
Ability to lift, move, and transport patients safely.
Acknowledge changes in a patient’s condition or behavior, and promptly report these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
Ability to organize and prioritize in an emergency care setting.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to bend, stoop, sit, push, pull, stand for prolonged periods of time, and lift up to 50 pounds.
