Overview
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a SCADA and Automation Engineer. This position is based in Phoenix, AZ with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location. The role supports SCADA, automation, and communications for utility and industrial / commercial clients across the United States, including conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships. This role requires technical competence in primary production duties as well as leadership in working with clients and mentoring and supervising project team members.
- Lead and execute SCADA, automation, and communications projects for utility and industrial clients.
- Analyze systems across conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission / distribution networks.
- Travel to project sites to troubleshoot, test, and commission networks and control systems.
Technical Disciplines Include The Following Areas
Networking and Communications : design and configure networks for RTUs, IEDs, HMIs, PLCs and other SCADA equipment; specify data networks with data security and availability; develop basic specifications for fiber, microwave, power line carrier, or radio paths; travel to project sites to troubleshoot and commission systems.Applicable network and communication protocols : DNP, Modbus, SEL Communication Protocol, Goose Messaging, IEC 61850, TCP / IP, UDP, Ethernet, and legacy utility protocols.Logic and Control Systems : develop, document, and implement logic and control schemes for remote and local operation of power system equipment (Remedial Action Schemes, Distribution Automation / FLISR, PV Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Microgrid, Renewable Curtailment, Volt / Var Control, Load Shedding, Anti-Islanding, and other custom logic); develop programs on various platforms; travel to project sites to test and commission control schemes.Applicable Logic and Control Platforms : SEL RTAC, NovaTech On, Cooper SMP, GE-D20, PLCs, IEC 61131, Lua, Python.Data Acquisition : prepare points lists of data to be transferred between control centers and equipment, assign and program data addressing and routing, develop HMI screens; travel to project sites to test and commission data transfer schemes.Applicable Software : Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, NovaTech NCD / Inkscape, Visual Basic, OSIPI, Python scripting, etc.Other Qualifications

BSEE degree; Ten (10)+ years of industry experience.Desired Education / Experience
