We are hiring a versatile and detail-oriented Automotive Prep & Porter Technician to join our growing team in Saginaw. This hybrid role involves preparing vehicles for paint and cosmetic repair while also assisting with driving and porter duties. You will support workflow across body prep, paint operations, and customer vehicle handling to ensure efficiency and a high standard of quality. Ideal candidates will be dependable, customer-focused, and experienced in automotive reconditioning or collision environments.
Requirements : Key Responsibilities
Preparation & Body Work :
- Sand and feather vehicle surfaces for paint application
- Mask and tape vehicles to protect unpainted areas
- Clean and prep panels thoroughly to ensure surface readiness
- Apply primers, sealers, or adhesion promoters as directed
- Inspect body panels for imperfections or contamination
- Assist painters and body technicians with repair flow
Finishing & Detailing :
Perform post-painting tasks such as buffing, polishing, and touch-upsInspect painted surfaces for quality and consistencyReassemble vehicle components post-painting as neededDriver-Porter Duties :
Safely park and retrieve customer and shop vehiclesMaintain clean and organized parking and staging areasTransport vehicles between departments as neededMaintenance & Safety :
Keep work areas clean and organized to ensure production efficiencyMaintain tools and materials in proper working conditionFollow safety protocols, wear PPE, and support a safe shop environmentAssist in managing inventory and suppliesQualifications
1–2 years of experience in automotive body prep or collision repairFamiliarity with sanding, masking, buffing, and detailingValid driver’s license and clean driving recordHigh school diploma or equivalentVocational training or certifications in auto refinishing is a plusTeam player with strong attention to detail and customer service skillsMust be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United StatesWorking Conditions
Work is performed in body shops or reconditioning centers, indoors and semi-outdoor settingsRequires standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbsExposure to dust, chemicals, paint fumes, and noisePPE required (e.g., respirators, gloves, safety glasses)All candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
