Medical Assistant - Job Responsibilities :
Medical Assistants help their Providers and patients by providing information, services, and assistance.They are skilled in supply management, verbal communication, infection control, creating a safe, effective environment, organization / patient flow, scheduling, professionalism, customer focus, confidentiality, bedside manner and medical teamwork.
Medical Assistant - Job Duties :
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Escort patients to Triage area and / or Exam rooms; prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight and medications; reporting patient history summary and documenting all information in the patients chart.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by Providers.
- Assists Provider with office procedures such as endometrial biopsies, Lletz procedures and any other procedure for which they are or will be trained.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock and keeping exam rooms stocked; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, notifying management of equipment problems.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, eye wash station, etc.)
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Serves and protects the Practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhances Practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Providers, Clinical Team Leader or the Practice Administrator.
