Responsibilities
The Director of Nursing is responsible for setting resident care standards for all direct care providers and provide complete supervision / management for the nursing department.
Providing day to day execution and supervision of resident care procedures and taking corrective action as necessaryOverseeing and being involved in establishing care plans for each resident, assessing, needs and goalsManaging and monitoring the review of nurses notes to determine if the care plan is being followed and also includes ascertaining the nursing completes all necessary reports, charting and assessments as required by their positionsManaging and Monitoring the MDS / RAI processManaging and Monitoring the Nursing Restorative ProgramSupervising and developing the nursing teamMaintaining Records, implementing systems and overall compliance with administrative requirements of facility managementComplying with safety requirements, infection control measures, and maintaining a clean work environment in accordance with facility policyQualifications
DON Qualifications / Requirements
Must meet State and Federal Director of Nursing requirements which include having at least one year of long-term care supervisory experienceGraduate of an accredited school of nursing and possess a valid RN license in good standing according to State and Federal requirementsHave a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of IndianaBasic Computer knowledge and skills.A passion for caring for people.Personal integrity and the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and other personnel.The ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Corporate Compliance and HIPAA.Knowledge on the use of personal computers, Word and Excel, and working with office machines such as fax and copying machines.The ability to adhere to professional code of ethicsAble to travel if needed
