WATE, the ABC Affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee is looking for a Reporter / MMJ to join our dynamic team. You must be creative, energetic, and adaptable. This person will also be a strong storyteller with excellent shooting and editing skills.

The successful candidate will be asked to work solo on stories and will be a major part of the station’s online success by posting timely updates, stories, and other content on our digital platforms.

  • Work with management to enterprise and develop stories daily
  • Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots, graphics, and stand-ups
  • Shoot, write and edit news stories
  • Stay on top of current events and issues that impact the East Tennessee community
  • Be flexible on schedule
  • Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.
  • Participates in promotional activities including public appearances.
  • Social Media Savvy : Interacts with viewers / users on social media sites.

Requirements & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting or producing.
  • Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers, and issues.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
