JOB DESCRIPTION

Position : Radiology Certified Coder

Status : Full or Part Time

Position Purpose : This role is responsible for accurately analyzing radiology reports and medical records to ensure compliance within radiology coding guidelines and regulations.

Responsibility, Skills, and Difficulty of Work :

• Read and interpret radiology reports and appropriately assign CPT, ICD 10 codes and modifiers
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines for federal, commercial and third party insurance companies
• Ability to effectively communicate with federal, commercial and third party insurance companies on claim denials for successful appeals
• Effectively review medical records for accuracy ensuring all components meet regulatory requirements for coding principals
• Document all activity accurately and timely in the billing system
• Collaborate with billing, coding and demographics to prevent reoccurring issues
• Meet productivity and quality expectations on a daily / weekly basis
• Communication clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Accurately perform job within federal and payer guidelines and regulations

Education & Qualifications :

Level of Authority : No supervisory responsibilities

Reports To : Department Manager

Classification : Non-exempt
