Blast Booth Operator

  • Manually direct nozzle over surface of large parts to blast areas missed from blaster.
  • Manipulate guns under pressure for specific intervals to clean off blast residue.
  • Inspect blast for conformance specifications.
  • Check to make sure blast intervals are in spec.
  • Check and change blast drums as required.
  • Confirm color to parts being blasted.
  • Put proper tags on materials verifying model numbers.
  • Assist in loading parts behind blaster.
  • Follow scheduling dates to meet production goals.
  • Adapt to 6S / Lean Manufacturing.
  • Work efficiently and effectively on diversified tasks.
  • Complete documentation as required by management.
  • Perform quality work.
  • Keep work area neat and organized.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills :

  • Able to lift a maximum of 50lbs.
  • Work in confined space.
  • Work with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication.
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and work on raised platforms.
  • Health and Safety Responsibilities :

  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the OSHA, regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Using or wearing the equipment, PPE that Blue Giant requires.
  • Reporting to his or her supervisor any contravention of the OSHA, regulations, or Blue Giant policies and procedures.
  • Reporting any observed hazards to the supervisor.
  • Reporting any risks or potential risks of violence or harassment encountered in the workplace immediately to supervisor.
  • Not removing or making ineffective any protective device without providing an adequate temporary substitute. When the work is completed, the original protective device must be replaced immediately.
  • Not using or operating any equipment, machine, device or thing or otherwise working in a manner that may endanger anyone.
  • Knowing, understanding and implementing safe work practices and procedures.
  • Attend all required Health and Safety training programs (ex : WHMIS, orientation), and applying knowledge to daily operating procedures at Blue Giant.
  • Special consideration to individuals with :

  • 6 months to 3 years related experience or manufacturing setting experience.
  • Education :

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
