Human Resources People Relations Partner Specialist
Volunteers of America is a non-profit human services organization committed to serving people in need, strengthening families, and building communities. VOALA provides a variety of social services to Los Angeles area communities such as Head Start programs, Upward Bound college prep programs, veterans' services, homeless shelters, low-income housing program as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
PAY RATE : $82,792.50 - $87,150 Per Year BENEFITS : VOALA offers competitive medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
The Human Resources People Relations Partner Specialist I will join the HR team in providing the needed employee relations experience necessary to maintain ongoing employee and management employee relations needs as well as project support as VOALA continues its growth. This is a hands-on position that will be primarily involved in front-line interaction with program managers and staff in communications, coaching and relationship building. This is an individual contributor role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interacting with employees and managers in assigned programs to assist with questions and policy clarification; makes on-site visits to program sites to provide face-to-face HR availability to employees in the work environment
- Working with program managers to facilitate recruiting and staffing needs
- Conducting workplace investigations and fielding employee concerns
- Coaching leaders, managers, and supervisors in policy implementation, performance management, and other HR initiatives
- Becoming a key part of positioning the HR department as a strategic partner to continuing program and corporate growth and change.
- Providing training and facilitated workshops in HR Policy, compliance, and best practices in leadership development
- Is a resource for HR Service team
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide employee relations support for assigned programs, answer questions, clarify policy, make on-site visits to provide support in the workplace.Perform workplace interviews and address employee concerns; serve as a liaison between program staff and the HR department.Assist compliance and program auditsPerform investigations, written warnings, and documentation of employee relations effortsReview documentation to ensure it is complete and organizedOther duties as required and is subject to change at any time.QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verificationsValid California driver license and access to dependable transportation with adequate insuranceEDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years of relevant experience / coursework)EXPERIENCE
Minimum three years of HR work, committed 40% of dedicated time handling employee complaints, grievances, interactive processes, and disciplinary actions.Extensive experience with case managing work in a software programExperience with completing comprehensive reports that can be used in legal matters defenseKnowledge of California employment regulationsPreferred PHR-CA or SHRM-CPAbility to carry a full case load with a minimum amount of directionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
