Job Description
Atlantic Health is seeking a Part-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) at Hackettstown Medical Center. Required hours are 4 : 00 PM–12 : 00 AM, including rotating weekends. Starting rate is $18.50 / hr.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Utilize appropriate cleaning equipment to clean all nursing units, patients' rooms (including bathrooms) and all other designated facility areas, including floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture, public bathrooms, offices, etc.
- Check EVS cart, ensuring proper chemical supplies are stocked with all bottles properly labeled and dated.
- Maintain paper supplies in all bathrooms.
- Remove trash, bring soiled linens to the soiled linen room, and disperse clean linens to patient areas; clean linen storage rooms and areas.
- Follow directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
- Follow department policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
- Demonstrate proficiency in personal, patient and team member safety regarding blood-borne pathogens, needle-stick prevention, fire safety, bed tracking and discharge communication, hospital codes, lock-out-tag-out procedures, hand washing, patient satisfaction, OSHA regulations, maintaining records and reports for regulatory compliance.
- Make periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
- Clean up major spills when necessary and respond to pages in a timely manner.
- Clean bodily fluids.
- Use basic computer and electronic technology for email and application navigation.
- Stay abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
- Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Report any required repairs to maintenance.
Requirements
HS Diploma or GED / Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.Must be able to read, write and speak English.Ability to apply elementary math functions.Ability to work well under time constraints.Must be able to be on feet for all or most of the shift.Regular exposure to extreme cold and heat; stand for long periods, bend, lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.Relevant Experience
Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital / healthcare environment preferred.Previous floor-care experience preferred.1–2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or related area preferred.Team Member Benefits
