Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Lakeview Pointe Residence Life Coordinator, this Front Desk Mail Assistant serves as a University Housing and Residence Life representative and assistant to campus residents. The position is responsible for the processing of incoming and outgoing mail and other packages for residential students.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts, processes and routes incoming and outgoing mail and packages for delivery.
  • Operates StarRez package system, to scan incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Responds to complaints and inquiries regarding lost mail.
  • Locates proper addresses and makes corrections for misdirected mail.
  • Provide assistance to allow mail carriers access to the residence hall.

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Requires current registration as a MGA student, in good academic standing
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours during the semester of employ.
  • Be organized and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and value of campus culture and community.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrates attention to detail
  • Able to work independently as needed
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently live in the residence halls or have lived in the residence halls Middle Georgia State University
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Be a team player
  • Present self in a positive and professional manner
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn campus buildings, departments, and offices.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
