A fully qualified technician, The Shop Technician applies a broad working knowledge of electronics to a wide variety of assignments through the application of technical concepts practiced and procedures. The technician works on moderately complex work orders with normal to critical deadlines, and typically operates independently to troubleshoot hardware / software equipment problems, and to set up, install, configure, maintain, and / or repair industrial radio remote controls. Works with general oversight on more complex assignments.
Essential Job Duties
Performs bench-level preventive hardware maintenance, replacement and repair to sub-assembly / component hardware.
Troubleshoots hardware, software, and / or operating problems. Uses basic test equipment to diagnose, analyze and resolve errors.
May troubleshoot related communications problems, applying knowledge of wiring, standard cable connections and read blueprint / schematic / equipment drawings.
Uses standard hand and power tools and technical manuals.
Education and Typical Years Experience
Vocational, trade school, or military technical training or an associate degree in electrical, electronic technology, or equivalent work, 3-5 years progressively responsible experience, demonstrating familiarity with broad range of electrical equipment.
