Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a transplant ICU night shift position in Washington, DC requiring a DC RN license and strong critical care skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Transplant ICU within a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30
  • Weekend shifts are included in the rotation
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Care for critically ill transplant patients with diverse, complex needs
  • Responsibilities include management of complex transplant and critical care patients in a high-acuity environment
  • Participation in infection prevention and use of isolation precautions required
  • Pre-employment completion of required online modules; additional training may be provided during orientation
  • Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year gap before returning as travelers
  • Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • No more than eight days of requested time off (RTO) approved within the contract period
  • Scrub or uniform requirements will be communicated during onboarding
  • Two supervisor references required for consideration

  • Active DC RN license required prior to start date
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience including dysrhythmia management, multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, renal failure, CVA / stroke management, EVD, hypothermia protocol / Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, respiratory / thoracic care, and infection prevention
  • Experience with isolation precautions, PPE, phlebotomy, surgical wounds with drains, and wound vacs required
  • Charge experience preferred
