Job Details – Texas Operating Room RN Locum Tenens Position Type : Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract) Location : Abilene, Texas 79601 Healthcare Setting : Main Operating Room (OR) Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 9 / 29 / 2025 – End : 12 / 29 / 2025) Shifts : Day shifts, 3x12-hour (06 : 30 – 19 : 00) Schedule Options : Thurs / Sat / Sun, Fri / Sat / Sun, Sat / Sun / Mon, or Sat / Sun / Tues (includes weekend coverage) Hours per Week : 36 Estimated Weekly Pay : $1,860 – $2,000 Orientation : 40 hours, with required modules completed during orientation Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at submission) Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience Craniotomy and burr hole procedure experience required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS (CNOR certification preferred) Experience with Allscripts or Altera electronic charting systems preferred Previous charge nurse and trauma level I / II experience preferred Ability to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions accepted) Prior travel nursing experience preferred OR RN Responsibilities Deliver expert perioperative nursing care for neuro / spine, ortho / trauma, and general / robotics / trauma surgical cases Demonstrate proficiency in craniotomy and burr hole procedures Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response Participate in weekend coverage, late days, and on-call rotations as scheduled Provide safe, compassionate care to adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients Maintain accurate documentation using Allscripts / Altera charting systems Foster a positive, team-oriented environment in a busy Texas operating room setting Join our healthcare team in Abilene, Texas, and make a difference as an Operating Room Registered Nurse.
