The best women’s hospital in Los Angeles is looking for current RN candidates to staff Operating Room, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby care units to be housed in our expanding new patient tower facility scheduled to open next year. Position Summary :

Abstract and assign correct diagnosis and procedure codes to all hospital inpatient-medical records, emergency room records, other ambulatory care records by using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines.

• Assigns correct patient diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Assigns correct DRG assignment. Optimizes the DRG and case mix assignment by using Medicus encoding system.
• Abstracts and collects correct patient information for hospital statistics, OSHPD discharge data reporting and hospital quality improvement project and hospital case mix index.
• Transmits data to business office for billing.
• Consults physicians / surgeons for correct coding / DRG assignments.
• Files, looking for reports and other miscellaneous.
