Job Summary
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an adaptable, accountable engineer to lead arc flash analysis, deliver high-quality results, and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards. Some travel is required for field investigations and client interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct arc flash studies, including field investigations, data collection, and analysis to assess electrical system hazards.
- Perform electrical system modeling using ETAP or SKM Power Tools to evaluate arc flash risks, short-circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and motor starting.
- Prepare detailed arc flash reports, including risk assessments, mitigation recommendations, and compliance documentation.
- Print and install arc flash labels in accordance with NFPA 70E standards.
- Execute additional electrical studies, such as cable ampacity, ground grid design, and voltage drop calculations.
- Generate protection relay settings to protect transformers, motors, and feeders.
- Develop and review electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and equipment layouts.
- Ensure compliance with codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, IBC, IFC, and MSHA.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to interpret code requirements and implement safe, efficient solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
Education : Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.Licensure : Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain a US state PE license (required).Experience : Proficiency in arc flash studies and electrical system modeling using ETAP or SKM; familiarity with electrical calculations (e.g., cable ampacity, conduit fill, voltage drop); familiarity with electrical drawings (e.g., one-line diagrams, grounding plans, panel schedules); knowledge of equipment specifications (e.g., switchgear, transformers, motor control centers).Software Proficiency : Arc Flash Software (ETAP, SKM Power Tools); Other Tools (AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft 365, SEL / GE products).Code Knowledge : Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, NESC, IBC, IFC, and MSHA standards.Soft Skills : Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work.Travel : Willingness to travel for field investigations and client meetings.Licenses and Certifications : Valid, unrestricted US Driver's License (required); Ability to pass and maintain MSHA Part 48 training and annual refresher; OSHA General Industry training and annual refresher; Initial and annual drug screening.This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Electrical Engineer to take ownership of arc flash studies and contribute to safe, compliant electrical systems.
