Job Description
Working under the general direction of the Director of Procurement, the Buyer is responsible for executing purchasing strategies that support efficient production operations and deliver cost-effective sourcing solutions. This role involves analyzing material requirements, managing supplier communications, and ensuring procurement processes align with company standards and goals. The Buyer works cross-functionally with teams in Research & Development, Sales & Marketing, and Production to support operational objectives, optimize inventory management, and ensure product quality. Building and maintaining strong vendor relationships is essential to driving results in cost control, supply continuity, and overall procurement performance..
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders after analyzing MRP projections
- Ensure purchase order information is accuracte and updates are made as necessary
- Research and respond to questions about cost of goods and material usage
- Implement cost-saving opportunities by identifying alternative materials or sourcing strategies that maintain quality and customer value.
- Execute action plans to minimize the impact of material shortages or supply constraints on production operations
- Prepare contract requests for review and approval
- Enter and maintain all documents in the company database to include SQF ingredient registers and SQF supplier registers
Key Requirements
BA / BS Degree is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience required3–5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in raw materials and / or packaging within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.Demonstrated expertise in negotiation.Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite and experienced with ERP / MRP inventory management systems.Capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently while working autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teamsClear and effective communication, both written and verbal.Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.Comprehensive knowledge of food manufacturing and distribution processes, including material handling and supply chain coordination.
