Airswift is seeking experienced HMI (Ignition) Developers to join our client's SCADA team, supporting Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects for one of the world's largest renewable energy developers. This is a remote role with occasional travel to the client's office in Juno Beach, Florida

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain standardized Ignition HMI screens for BESS projects.
  • Develop intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for monitoring and control.
  • Create custom screens, pop-ups, reports, and trending displays.
  • Implement responsive designs for various screen sizes and workflows.

Technical Implementation & Integration

  • Configure Ignition platforms (Vision, Perspective, Gateway).
  • Develop UDTs and templates for consistent deployment.
  • Integrate HMI interfaces with historians and data export tools.
  • Implement alarm management systems and notification protocols.
  • Create Python scripts and SQL queries for enhanced functionality.
  • Support integration with SCADA systems, PLCs, and protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, DNP3).
  • Provide HMI commissioning tools and support field activities.
  • Troubleshoot HMI-related issues during commissioning.
  • Participate in FAT and SAT testing procedures.
  • Collaborate with SCADA leads, PLC programmers, and field technicians.

    • Standards & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with HMI standards and cybersecurity protocols (NERC CIP).
  • Maintain version control and configuration management.
  • Conduct code reviews and apply best practices.
  • Document configurations and create user manuals.
  • Work closely with SCADA, Field Technical Services, and Project Management teams.
  • Participate in daily commissioning calls and weekly SCADA meetings.
  • Interface with vendors, EPCs, and third-party integrators.
  • Support development of automated documentation and AI-driven analytics.
  • Participate in patent development and SCADA University training programs.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience with Inductive Automation Ignition platform.
  • Ignition certifications (Gold or Platinum preferred).
  • Proficiency in Vision and / or Perspective modules.
  • Strong Python scripting and SQL database skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of battery energy storage systems, inverters, and power electronics.
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks (NERC CIP).
  • Understanding of electrical schematics, SCADA drawings, and control logic.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

    • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at a desk for long durations.
  • Ability to travel between work locations as needed.
