Responsibilities
- The Office LPN assists the physician or mid-level provider by providing assessments, treatment, testing, and education for the patients of the practice. Must be well organized, professional, customer-service oriented, detail oriented, able to multitask, and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Follows established clinic policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, and lab notifications to ensure a safe patient care environment.
- Administers medications (oral, IM, and SC) as ordered.
- Assists the provider with procedures, maintains sterile field, and manages instrument trays.
- Assists with examinations within scope of license and performs phone triage; acts as liaison between physician / APP and patient, communicates test results, answers questions, and assists with return calls.
- Documents chief complaint / visit reason and details according to provider preference.
- Assists with obtaining patient measurements (height, weight, vital signs) and escorts patients to exam rooms.
- Initiates and updates patient medication and summary lists as directed by the provider.
- Performs point-of-care lab testing and collects specimens as ordered.
- Educates patients about MyChart and assists with enrollment.
- Provides patient teaching and supportive services as needed and delivers treatments as ordered.
- Schedules diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and obtains precertification / authorization as required by payers and ordered by the provider.
- Trains LPN and MA in the clinic role.
- Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, remains focused under pressure, and is a team player with good attendance.
Education
Graduate of an accredited LPN program and approved IV therapy course.Work Experience
Nursing or other health care experience preferred but not required.Certification / License
Current LPN license in the state of Missouri required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.Mental / Physical Requirements
Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required. Standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious disease and hostile persons at times. Frequent exposure to communicable disease via blood and other body fluids. Minimal physical discomfort.Job Details
